A drywell is a type of absorption system, usually a vertical concrete cylinder with holes in the side and an open bottom. Drywells are installed by digging a deep hole, usually near the septic tank, and setting the drywell in it. Gravel is usually dumped around the outside of the drywell and a lid put on top.
A drywell is an underground porous container that disposes unwanted water slowly into the ground. Types of water include runoff water, stormwater, and greywater. Drywell installation should be done by a professional. Drywells should be installed several feet into the ground, below the Frost line to ensure the drywell will continue to drain even in cold temperatures. It is ideal to have them several feet away from the house as well.
